Culture refers to a community's way of life, beliefs and norms. It portrays what defines the community. As a nursing practitioner, it is important to recognize culture's crucial role in nursing practice. Advanced nurse practitioners in the mental health specialization are expected to know the different aspects of culture that dictate the environment in that mental health patients reside. Additionally, nurses are expected to show efforts in understanding the patients' culture and respecting it to ensure any form of business is avoided.
