The critique of quantitative research is one of the issues that health educators go through. Critique is an important thing as it helps in assessing the weakness or strength of the research. The key components that need critique in a quantitative research are the validity, reliability and applicability.
In a research, validity is the level to which a measurement captures what it claims to measure. This might be in the manner of questions contained in a questionnaire, survey or instrument. Validity is usually measured in face validity, content validity, criterion validity, and criterion related validity. Each of these aspects is important as it ensures that the research has clearly captured what it claims to measure (Fowkes, & Fulton, 2011).
One of the things that are prevalent in any research is the ability to role of outside influence in the study. A good researcher should factor in the place of contamination in the research and take care to ensure that such contamination does not influence the outcome of the study.
