As an inflammatory bowel disorder (IBD), Crohn's produces inflammation and edema in the gastrointestinal tract. The inflammation can occur either in multiple segments of the bowel or in one continuous segment. If left untreated, it may lead to other complications such as arthritis, colon cancer, and liver disease. Age is not a factor but younger people are more likely to develop the disease. Furthermore, white people, smokers, and people with a family history have a higher risk of contracting the disease. Unfortunately, Crohn's disease has no profound remedy, although it can be managed with the appropriate and early diagnosis.
Although the small intestine is the most prevalent site of Crohn's disease onset, the disease can affect any section of the bowel.
