Instructions

Develop, in detail, a situation in which a health care worker might be confronted with ethical problems related to patients and prescription drug use OR patients in a state of poverty.

Your scenario must be original to you and this assignment. It cannot be from the discussion boards in this class or any other previous forum.

Articulate (and then assess) the ethical solutions that can found using "care" (care-based ethics) and "rights" ethics to those problems.

Assessment must ask if the solutions are flawed, practicable, persuasive, etc.

What health care technology is involved in the situation? What moral guidelines for using that kind of healthcare technology should be used there? Explore such guidelines also using utilitarianism, Kantian deontology, ethical egoism, or social contract ethics.

Say how social technologies such as blogs, crowdfunding, online encyclopedias can be used in either case. What moral guidelines for using that kind of healthcare technology should be used there? Develop such guidelines also using utilitarianism, Kantian deontology, ethical egoism, or social contract ethics.

You should not be using any text you used in a discussion board or assignment for this class or any previous class.

While working with different patients, it is common for healthcare providers to be confronted with various ethical problems (Dintcho, 2020). An example is when Cindy, a health care provider, is providing care to a seven-year-old boy named Marcus, who has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Marcus is also anemic and was born autistic. Consequently, he is totally dependent on his parents to do everything for him. He had delayed attaining any milestone that his age mate attained when they were two. The parents have exhausted all their resources trying to provide care for their child, whom they love deeply. Marcus seems to be in a lot of pain. He has to take many daily drugs and is always in the hospital. Despite the medical attention, he never appeared to be improvising. His parents ask Cindy how they can help their son because they feel he is in a lot of pain. Cindy is in an ethical quandary about whether to mention the option of assisted suicide because she has an obligation to provide health care to all patients without discrimination or favoritism.
The ethical problem arises because, as a health care provider, Cindy should not be painted as giving up on providing care to a patient using the medicine. Also, Cindy may be deemed discriminatory because of the parent's financial situation. Cindy feels if Marcus's parents continue with the child's medical care, they will end up homeless and unemployed, and in the end, there is not much hope for Marcus's recovery. On the other hand, it is Cindy's role to ensure that she gives Marcus all the needed medical help. Using an acre-based ethic, Cindy would opt to tell Marcus's parents that euthanasia is an option that could aid the situation. Since M...
