Case Scenario of Mrs. Z
Musculoskeletal disorders are diseases that affect the functionality of body muscles, bones, and joints (Davis & Kotowski, 2015). In most cases, it is difficult to manage the disorders since they can affect the whole body. For instance, AS Kinge et al. (2015) illustrated, an injury on the leg can radiate pain up to the neck. Musculoskeletal infections affect the overall coordination of movement. The interaction of bones, nerves, ligaments, tendons, and body tissues within the muscles means that when one is affected, the others may not be able to work well. Patients with musculoskeletal injuries experience minimal movement and ability to carry out their daily activities. As a result, excellent treatment and management of the disorders are essential in promoting the quality of life of the patient (Wiitavaara, Fahlström & Djupsjöbacka, 2017).
1 What else would you do in this situation with Mrs. Z?
In addition to reviewing the medical chart for Mrs. Z, I would come up with pain management strategies focusing on the needs of the patient. I would first start by determining if the reason for Mrs. Z falling at home as a result of high blood pressure. In this case, I would look for treatment options that will increase the pedal pulse on the right food. Weaker pulse means that there is a chance of inadequate blood supply to the leg, which may affect the patient’s foo functionality. Thus as illustrated by Wiitavaara, Fahlström, and Djupsjöbacka (2017), I will look for alternatives to increasing blood supply to the right foot pedal. Also, I will administer pain management medication to reduce restlessness and anxiousness.
2 What other options or alternatives would you explore, and why for Mrs. Z?
As Kinge et al. (2015) indicated, depending on the needs f the patient, all musculoskeletal techniques may not be appropriate for Mrs. Z’s case. Thus, in coming up with management strategy, I would focus on determining the particular injury resulting in musculoskeletal disorder. Also, I would evaluate the current symptoms of Mrs. Z and relate them to the treatment approaches. Besides, I would explore occupational and ...
