Quality assurance focuses on maintaining a high quality of health care by continuously measuring its effectiveness to provide the outlined services. Besides, quality assurance refers to activities that determine the procedures and standards for developing a product. The United States has two non-profit groups that control the performance-measurement field. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is responsible for certifying health plans, provider groups, and various businesses specializing in medical items. Conversely, the Joint Commission focuses on evaluating the quality of services in hospitals, laboratories, and other medical institutions. Both organizations use different parameters to conduct the performance of their targets. Health care organizations use various quality assurance techniques to maximize customer satisfaction.
One of the primary advantages of a robust healthcare quality assurance program is its ability to identify problems that can affect patient care or safety and make instant changes. Process checklist is one of the standard techniques used by healthcare organizations to maintain quality. In this method, healthcare organizations use process checklists devices for error proofing and data collection. The device guides operators and employees in monitoring various key plant components, settings, and the quality of work in progress and finished products. Besides, healthcare organizations use process standards as a quality assurance measure. Process standards help the healthcare organization’s management determine if the work in progress follows the set procedures, leading to a favorable outcome.
