Looking at the world today, the most looked upon food is the Genetically Modified Food (GMF). This can be observed by the majority of people who use it. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are known to be the cause behind Genetically Modified Foods (GMO) and this occurs as a result of some genetics being altered by special technologies in place. Initially, these GMOs were meant to protect the plant productivity but it turned out to be used in human consumption so as to reduce the cost of living in human beings as compared to the natural food which has been viewed to be costly. The altered organisms are such as the animals, plants and bacteria.
However, the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) meeting which was held in November 1999 in Washington, D.C, showed very clear that, Genetically Modified Foods have got its own advantages and disadvantages to the human consumption. Nevertheless, with its advantages in place, there are lots of concerns about human beings` health conditions especially when it comes to the allergies that are known to be caused by the GMF. This occurs after the enzyme that is meant to inactivate the antibiotic is destroyed in the process of processing food using heat hence putting the human health at risk (Leighton, 1999).
To prove the above assumption, a research was done on rats who were fed with the Genetically Modified Foods inform of potatoes. The end results were so different as compared to those rats who were being given normal food thus raising some concern of, if the rats can be affected, what about the human beings?
