Balanced Scorecard and Issues in Healthcare
According to McLaughlin and Olson (2012), “a key component of effective operations is the ability to move strategy to action” (pg. 13). Once a health care organization has a strategy, it is then necessary to select the accurate assessment tool to implement the strategy. Balance scorecards, strategy maps, and dashboards are three organizational assessment tools that are used frequently to move a strategy into action.

Identify two (2) issues from the list of top issues confronting hospitals in 2016 published by the America College of Healthcare Executives (https://www(dot)ache(dot)org/pubs/research/ceoissues.cfm)
Then choose one (1) tool (balanced scorecard, strategy maps, or dashboards) per selected issue and discuss (from a health care manager perspective) how you would use that tool to minimize the selected issue.

Healthcare delivery continues to be a dynamic issue that falls right into the hands of the stakeholders in the sector. The decisions they make and the subsequent efforts in the same directly impact the field's success. Still, challenges exist that compound the healthcare sector. The American College of Healthcare Executives (2016) article highlights two main points that stand out in the healthcare sector at present. The first issue is patient safety and quality of the safety. Patient safety is critical for the success of any healthcare outcome since it determines the patient's speed of recovery from their respective ailments. Patient safety is usually given less attention. The quality of safety that patients need should also be improved through increased training of the responsible personnel, improved measures within the healthcare facility, and the embracement of technology in helping to improve safety.
