It can be your memory, a friend's memory, or even something from TV if you are more comfortable sharing something that is not personal. STEP 2: Select three theories to use to describe the memory. You can use: Psychodynamic Theory: ID, Ego, Superego Psychosexual stages of development Psychosocial stages of development Classical Conditioning: Unconditioned stimulus, conditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned response, neutral stimulus, pairing Operant Conditioning: reinforcement, punishment, positive, negative, consequences Social Learning Theory: Observational Learning (imitation, modeling, motivation) Piaget's stages of cognitive development (sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, etc..) Humanistic perspective: Positive regard, negative response, the ideal self, the real self, unconditional positive regard, principles of the good life Maslow's Hierarchy of needs: self-actualization, esteem, love/belonging, safety, physiological Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory: social, historical, and cultural interactions, language, zone of proximal development, scaffolding Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory: Chronosystem, marcosystem, exosystem, ect... Use appropriate vocabulary for each theory. Add supporting evidence from your text. You must include an APA in-text citation and corresponding reference to the module for each theory (3 total). Describe how each theory provides you with a new understanding of this experience. STEP 3: Each explanation should be in about a paragraph or two. It should look like this: Memory: Theory 1: Theory 2 Theory 3 Example (Please do not use this example in your work) Memory: When I was a kid I loved to ride my bike. I rode my bike up and down the street. I rode my bike to my friends houses. I rode my bike with my friends. Theory 1: Psychosocial Perspective. The psychosocial perspective by Erik Erikson can help describe the importance of this event for development. Erikson's psychosocial stages of development include eight stages where the ego is presented with a major psychosocial challenge that can either be overcome and lead to successful development or fail and lead to issues in development (GSC, 2025). I rode my bike during the Industry vs. Inferiority stage where the major psychosocial task is comparing yourself to your peers. If the child compares themselves to their peers and feels a sense of pride and self-confidence in their abilities they will progress successfully through the stage (industry) (GSC, 2025). However, if the child compares themselves to their peers and feels like they come up short they will experience a lack of confidence and inferiority (GSC, 2025). In this memory, I was successfully progressing through the Industry vs Inferiority stage because I was building confidence in my physical skills, independence, and social skills. I was talented at riding my bike compared to my peers. My bike gave me independence because I was able to ride my bike to difference places and make my own plans. My bike also increased my social network since I was able to bike to the houses of several friends. I left this stage with Industry because my bike allowed me to increase my confidence in my physical abilities, independence, and social abilities. Then, when I compared myself to my peers, I did not feel inferior in my abilities. Reference: Good Samaritan College (GSC). (2025). Psychosocial Theory. Applying Development Theories Author’s Name The Institutional Affiliation Course Number and Name Instructor Name Assignment Due Date Memory I remember the days of my academia, which developed a fear in my personality while I was talking to my classmates, asking questions for clarification regarding the lecture; the teacher observed the same, scolded me, and stood up before the entire class, and then I started to remain quiet during my academic sessions, maintaining class decorum to avoid prospective embarrassment. Theory 1: Social Learning Theory One of the theories relatable to my experience is the ‘Social Learning Theory’ that assumes that children learn through observation and imitation of others (Good Samaritan College, 2025). After the teacher reprimanded me, I observed and realized how my co-learners avoided the same consequence by paying attention to the lesson. It led me to model my behavior after them as I decide...
