Informatics refers to how digital technologies transform the available data into knowledge that individuals can apply in their daily lives. By reflecting the healthcare organization, informatics has significantly changed patient care and safety. For instance, physicians can use digital technologies to monitor, track, remind, store, share, and retrieve crucial medical information. The availability and accessibility of health information promote patient care and safety. For example, let’s consider electronic health records (EHRs), which store patient data so that healthcare providers can retrieve it when the need arises. On that note, clinicians use patient medical profiles to treat sick individuals or recommend the most appropriate treatment procedures, promoting the quality of patient care and safety.
