When considering existing phenomenon and structuring processes to either change or modify identified problems, Haines (1998) suggests that using systems models help to think of the problem and how it relates to the environment. Systems Model thinking includes the notion that systems in general are not static but, rather, require ongoing process components such as inputs, outputs and feedback. Further, using the Systems Model approach, complex problems can be examined and solutions can be formed with greater clarity and focus (Haines, 1998).
This discussion focuses on using systems thinking towards my project by first identifying my PICOt question and then forming a map of how my project might be implemented using the components of the A-B-C-D Systems Model, as described above.

System models have effectively been used in restructuring processes in modifying and implementing change whenever a problem has been identified. System model comprises of a set of components or elements that collaboratively work together towards achieving a common goal or vision. System thinking approach is an advanced mode of critical thinking which results in a higher intellect, interdependence, as well as connectedness in human growth and eventually maturity in yielding on life issues. As such, systems are generally not static but rather are ongoing process components that include; outputs, feedback, input and throughput. System models are effective in simplifying and clarifying a problem hence focusing on solving the problem (Haines, 1999). This paper is a discussion on how A-B-C-D system models can be applied in improving clinical communication among the nursing student.
Nursing students using English as their second language often experience more problems within clinical environment as compared to those using English as their first language. In forming a map to outline how the system model applies in solving the issue of communication barrier in nursing students using English as their second language, the following steps are followed.
