The pros and cons of local storage, distributed storage, and cloud storage
Local storage entails saving data to external media that require connection to a computer to obtain information. The physical media are easily accessible, and a person may safely store them in a location of his or her choice. The advantage of having a local storage is the power to be in control of the sensitive data (Carroll, 2015). However, external data storage is costly and may require a lot of space if an institution handles large volumes of data. Distributed storage involves combining numerous servers to make storage more powerful. The system is reliable since data is stored on different servers (Neal, 2011).
