Physical Disabilities and Health Impairments
Physical disabilities refer to a limitation on physical functioning and mobility of the body. Examples of physical disabilities include cerebral palsy and spina bifida. These two illnesses cause problems in mobility. On the other hand, health impairments mean having limited strengths and high alertness to the environment due to acute health problems like asthma and epilepsy. The essay discusses accommodations in the curriculum and assessments that can be made for students with physical disabilities and health impairments.
The type of accommodations made in the general curriculum depends on the type of physical disability a child is suffering from. However, on the basic level, the child should have a seating arrangement that is not permanently to a bench. The reason for a free chair is so that they can adjust their sitting position the way they want to (Shore, 2017). Also, wheelchairs can be provided to those suffering from physical disabilities.
