Early Childhood Science Concept
The elementary grade of my choice in this essay will be grade 1. Typically, my state’s early childhood science standards require learners to acquaint themselves with basic biological concepts and record their observations using the available evidence from learned concepts. One science concept that I can teach grade 1 learners is understanding the characteristics of living things such as plants and identifying factors that promote plants growth.
SMART Objectives
Two appropriate SMART objectives that will align with my identified standard for grade 1 learners will be as follows.
1 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to list at least three characteristics of living things, such as growth, response to the environment, and reproduction, as evidenced by a worksheet activity.
2 By the conclusion of the unit, students will be able to identify and describe the four basic needs of living things (air, water, food, and habitat) in a class discussion, demonstrating understanding with 80% accuracy.
