Single-factor experimental design is an experiment in which the level of one predictor variable is manipulated (Hoshmand, 2018). The topic of interest is to establish if phone use before bedtime affects sleep patterns.
A research question:
How does the number of minutes that a person takes in using their phone before sleep affect the number of hours they take in sleep?
Hypothesis:
Null hypothesis: The shorter the minutes one takes using their phone before sleep, the longer the sleeping hours.
Alternative hypothesis: The longer the minutes one takes using their phone before sleep, the shorter the sleeping hours.
The single factor experimental study can be constructed by randomly assigning ten participants to use phones for longer minutes before sleep and instructing the other ten participants to take shorter minutes in using phones before sleep.
