Reflections on Qualitative Research for Social Change
As a Walden doctoral student, social change is the dedication to accessing knowledge and inquiry in the creation of equity, empowerment, and transformation in communities. This course has further illuminated my values about qualitative studies as an effective method to unearth the voices, which are often sidelined in the education domain. After reading Ravitch and Carl (2021) and Rubin and Rubin (2012), the idea of horizontal values, in particular, employing empathy, reflexivity, and collaboration in research, seems worthy to me. These principles have reiterated to me that the extraction of data is not the case but rather co-construction of data takes place through the relationship between members.
