Teaching is a journey. A professional-growth plan can serve as a roadmap for you as you grow and learn within the profession. This plan could come in the form of text, a graphic, a mind map, or a web-based format. Whatever the format, the plan should reflect strategies and goals for improving instruction and student learning.
This assignment reinforces understanding of a professional-growth plan and provides an opportunity to outline the information that is typically included.
Complete Parts 1 and 2 below using the provided instructions.
Part 1: Goals Selection
Reflect on your experiences in this course, and identify your strength areas and improvement opportunities regarding meeting the needs of diverse learners through planning, assessing, and instructing.
Access the table at the bottom of this document, and complete the following 2 columns by providing:
• Goals Based on Focus Areas: Identify and describe goals based on your focus areas that will lead to your professional growth.
• Goal Impact: Explain how growth in these areas will improve your practice and enhance student learning.
Provide at least 3 goals and their impact, and add additional table rows to include more goals. Note: You will complete the remainder of the table in the next section.
Part 2: Professional-Growth Action Plan
Refer to your Part 1: Goals Selection responses, and brainstorm professional-development practices and resources you can engage in or implement to complete your identified goals.
Access the table at the bottom of this document, and complete the following 3 columns by providing:
• Practices and Resources: List the specific practices you will engage in and resources you will use to complete your goals. Focus the practices on the content knowledge you will acquire and the skills you will develop.
• Goal Completion Indicator and Sources of Evidence: Explain how you will know that you have achieved your goals, and provide a description of evidence indicating completion that you will collect.
• Timeline: Identify a timeline for achieving your goals.
