Education remains fundamental, and stakeholders should ensure all individuals have access to equal educational opportunities. Schooling used to be quite different than it is now. For example, African Americans and whites learned in separate settings, with the former receiving a substandard education compared to their white counterparts. However, education history highlights diverse trends that define the American system and informs educators on how to benefit their learners.
Differentiated Learning
Positive Aspects
Differentiated learning is a teaching and learning strategy for students with diverse abilities. Instead of expecting students to adapt their behavior to match the curriculum, the idea is to meet them where they are. Differentiation assists educators realize the needs of both gifted and disabled students. Both differentiation and inclusion are necessary to assist every pupil in attaining their full potential and receiving the education they deserve (Ismajli & Imami-Morina 2018). Moreover, teaching may be changed in many ways. One technique is to tailor learning to each child’s needs by teaching multiple ways that each student may employ. The teaching methods vary depending on the learner’s competence and learning capacity.
Negative Aspects
Applying differentiation in the classroom causes challenges for all players, including the teacher. The disadvantages include instructors spending a significant proportion of their time adapting lessons to each child’s needs. Teachers must engage pupils in some ways to make learning valuable and fun. Without professionals in this education sector, students struggle to reach their full potential and excel in class.
