Man has been in love with music since the beginning of this world. Moving on, their favorite music is man’s ancient hobby. Recently, researchers have discovered many advantages of music for preschoolers to cultivate their cognitive, physical, and socioemotional skills. The people can avail their community resources to involve with early childhood-aged children to benefit family and society by beginning study through music and movement.
Music and movement are highly helpful in increasing cognitive skills in early childhood. Music learning groups at this age have better phonic and language skills with stronger short-term memory and greater harmony with their classmates to learn together. At first, learning songs with rhythm and repetition increases their phonic knowledge. By enjoying rhymes and bouncing on the beat, they generate awareness regarding phonic sounds in their subconsciousness. Consequently, they cultivate stronger command of linguistics. Secondly, they develop their short-term memory by receiving music and movement classes. Researches show that children learning musical instruments and dancing to songs can memorize better than other students. They are in the habit of learning melodies they listen to and repeatedly read, which positively impacts their short-term memory. Thirdly, singing and dancing together provide them with a chance to grow in understanding with their classmates. As a result, they learn to study in a group as they enjoy music and movement classes together (Pogue, 2018). Shortly, music and movement immensely impact early childhood-aged students’ cognitive skills by increasing their command of the language, short-term memory, and group education.
Music and movement significantly impact preschoolers’ physical growth like balance, control, coordination, and physical fitness. When they listen to different sounds and phrases and dance to the rhythm, they learn to connect their movements. Thereby, they learned to balance and control their bodies. As their movement on hearing musical sounds and words create a connection between their body and brain, they begin to coordinate their brain and body, which is a healthy sign of physical and mental fitness. Researches show that dancing while singing is a form of aerobic exercise, which is recommended to reduce stress and boost physical health (Kari, 2018). Hence, the children grow an aptitude to fight off stress early and keep up good physical health. Summing up, music and movement positively influence the physical health of preschool students by teaching them control, balance, coordination, and exercises to stay fit.
