The three curricula for children and /or their families.
According to Colorado State University Best Practices in Nutrition Education for Low-Income Audiences, a curriculum is defined as a series of learning opportunities. The most suitable curricula for children from low-income set-up include content areas, Goal setting and lastly theoretical basis. Content areas mainly focus on accurate nutrition content as well as current information related to physical activity, food resource management, eating behaviors, food safety, and parent/child feeding relationship. Similarly, Goal setting curriculum includes participant behavior change goal setting. Finally, theoretical basis curriculum is focused on behavior change theories which are mainly used for the content and target audience. These theories may address knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors like cognitive and affective behaviors.
Discuss required or recommended Educator Characteristic, Training and Evaluation practices associated with the curriculum you review.
For the purpose of professional and successful implementation of the above curricula, Educators in charge of the learning opportunities are supposed to have the following characteristics, Training and evaluation practices. In regards to the characteristics, the educators should have the ability to relate well to the target audience. Creating a good rapport with the audience will enable the educators in charge of the curricula to gather relevant current information related to physical activity, eating behaviors and parent/child feeding relationship. Similarly, the educators should have expertise in content prior to delivering the intervention to the children and their families (Wolfe & Crosiar, 2010). Meanwhile, initial training is important for successful curricula delivery. The training accommodates visual auditory and hands-on learning styles as well as providing an opportunity to learn content and cultural diversity and sensitivity. Finally, the use of formative evaluation in the development of the intervention is inevitable in successful curricula delivery.
