For this Assignment, you will examine the relationship between culture, learning, and motivation in an education context you serve or aspire to serve.
To prepare for this Assignment, review culturally responsive education practices in the resources in this course and/or from your own literature searches. Review module resources for key conceptual findings about the relationship between motivational theory and culturally responsive education practices. Analyze innovative learning projects described in the media in this module through the lenses of motivation theory and culturally responsive practices.

The current multicultural classrooms need more comprehension of how to improve inspiration and engagement progressions for culturally diverse students. The dynamic interactions between what this learner brings and the learning settings shape learners' accomplishment and learning experiences, such as motivational and engagement processes. With the increased diversity of students in the classroom and their diverse learning needs, many teachers not trained on how to strategy a learning context that supports motivation for diverse learner’s struggle with creating an authorizing framework to support culturally diverse learners' inspiration. Below is the structure for my workshop session that describes the connection between culturally responsive practices and motivation theory.
Goal of the Workshop Session
This session aims to realize specific goals that describe the connection between culturally responsive education practices and motivation theory. Such goals include;

Overview of Session
The workshop aims to bridge the gap between culturally responsive teaching practices and motivation theory. Participants in my session will get the chance to learn how to recognize learners' cultural backgrounds, which can improve engagement and learning outcomes. Culturally informed instruction, such as culturally sustaining pedagogy, is beneficial because it emphasizes how culture affects and shapes learners' study and the need to preserve their linguistic and cultural experiences in schools (Anyichie & Butler, 2023). Through this session, participants will learn practical strategies to support students from diverse settings and decrease cultural barriers to learning. They will leave this session with a set of actionable guidelines to lead their educational practices and nurture motivation in culturally diverse classrooms. Such a session is appropriate for teachers, administrators, and school leaders who aim to generate a wide-ranging and supportive learning setting.
Culturally Responsive Practices and Motivation
Practice 1: Building Relationships Through Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
Culturally responsive teaching emphasizes practitioners being culturally competent to authentically educate learners. Therefore, educators have to build relationships with others through understanding (Montag et al., 2020). They must acknowledge their culture before understanding that of others. Educators have to separate stereotypes and conventions about other cultures. Such an initiative is crucial in building strong teacher-student relationships that are established on mutual respect and understanding of cultural backgrounds. It helps learners feel safe and valued, which improves their motivation to learn.
Maslow's hierarchy of Needs stresses the significance of belonging and esteem. When students are placed in groups that encourage stronger relations and a sense of belonging, they feel safe and connected to their educators and peers (Montag et al., 2020). In such cases, learners are more expected to be motivated to engage in the classroom and succeed in their education regardless of their cultural background.
Practice 2: Creating a Culturally Inclusive Curriculum
A culturally inclusive curriculum designed with students' cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, and interests helps them feel represented and respected. Such initiatives also increase intrinsic motivation as student see the significance of what they are learning in their lives. By fostering learners' sense of mastery, autonomy, and purpose, educators can improve their desire and commitment to learning. The self-determination model posits that all humans have three basic psychological needs, comprising autonomy, relatedness, and competence (Bureau et al., 2022). However, among them, autonomy is a key drive of motivation. Therefore, by allowing learners to see themselves in the curriculum, teachers are providing them with a sense of ownership and relevance, increasing their autonomy and participation in the learning process.
