Connection

In the last lesson, we learned that reading aloud to an adult or another experienced reader with feedback is guided reading. It is not a silent reading session. The ability to give 'direction' to the learner is crucial to the performance of skill development. Both good and poor readers benefit from guided reading (Fountas, 2017). On the other hand, silent individual reading may not genuinely help beginner readers improve their reading skills. In this lesson, we will practice the strategies of guided reading.
