An effective leader plays a critical role in motivating employees, instilling a sense of purpose, and opening opportunities for growth in the future. As a leader, I have been successful in working with other people. My leadership capacity has been attributed to my natural abilities and learned skills. As a result, the ability to define my goals has been crucial to our organization’s wellness. Chellappa (2022) asserted that setting goals is vital for motivation, decision-making, collaboration, and guiding employees. The capacity to articulate and share my goals with other staff has made them understand their responsibilities, thus, helping to realize our organization's objectives.
Moreover, I have been a good communicator throughout my career. Good communication in the workplace is vital as it helps staff survive difficult situations, build a team, and make things clear (Sherman, 2019). As a result, I usually listen to the opinions of the staff I lead, appreciating their viewpoints. For example, when dealing with underperforming employees, I engage in face-to-face conversations with them to look for a lasting solution. Additionally, I am always open to feedback from the staff I lead concerning my leadership style. Doing this has helped me understand areas I can improve, which can benefit myself and the team.
