Goal theory is defined as a motivational theory that emphasizes the need to rely on goals to improve performance. The goals are used as benchmarks to gauge performance, and people feel motivated to work hard to attain the targets (Demirkol, 2021). Self-efficacy is defined as a person’s inherent belief that they can accomplish something. It also means confidence in one’s ability to motivate themselves. Self-efficacy is an aspect of self-esteem and consists of the individual’s cognitive skills, attitude, and abilities (Malmi et al., 2020). The motivation-hygiene theories suggest that a majority of variables that lead to job satisfaction are regarded as motivators. It includes different variables like growth, opportunities for advancement, responsibility, recognition, and achievement. Therefore, the manager has to focus on satisfiers or motivating factors which can be intrinsic or extrinsic.
