Contribution of the Course Readings to My Professional Growth

Multilingual and multicultural education reinforces our society's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Baker and Wright (2017) believe that it helps people efficiently connect with other people from different origins and languages. This fosters understanding and community among people of different backgrounds and languages. As a result, this course's readings and research have improved my understanding of multilingual and intercultural teaching. Given that every one of our learners brings a diversity of experiences and viewpoints to the classroom, I believe it is crucial to recognize and value their various languages and cultures. After realizing this, I am driven to create an educational environment that celebrates language and culture variety. This reflection paper will discuss how this course has changed my knowledge of multilingual and multicultural education and how I teach. The reflection will also examine how these events caused these changes.

According to De-Jong (2011), my understanding of "language ecology," which studies how languages interact with each other and with political, economic, and sociocultural frameworks, has broadened. Language ecology studies language interactions. I now grasp how languages interact and impact each other thanks to this knowledge. After understanding this, I want to build a multicultural and multilingual learning environment. This has influenced my teaching methods.
