Instructional strategies are the heart of learning. Instructional strategies are the activities that are modeled, practiced, and then completed independently in various learning opportunities. As soon as an alignment between what will be measured and how it will be measured is defined, instructional strategies are considered. Part 1: Developmentally Appropriate Instructional Strategies You are providing professional development for early childhood educators in your area that focuses on developmentally appropriate instructional practices. Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation that includes the following: Describe developmentally appropriate instructional practices for each of the following age ranges: birth-2, preschool, and K-Grade 3. Select an age within the birth-age 2 range. Identify three developmental milestones from different developmental domains (cognitive, linguistic, social-emotional, and physical) for that age and describe developmentally appropriate activities for supporting each of the three milestones. Select three early learning standards for preschoolers from different developmental domains and describe a developmentally appropriate activity to support each standard. Select three state standards for a grade level within Grades K-3 and describe a developmentally appropriate activity to support each standard. Support this part of the assignment with 2-3 scholarly resources. Part 2: Planning Strategies Using the class profile for the selected grade level, the standards from Topic 2, and the “COE Lesson Plan Template,” complete the following: Section 1: Lesson Preparation – Grade level, subject, classroom and student factors/grouping, state learning standards, and specific learning targets/objectives. Section 2: Multiple Means of Representation (modeling): Explain how you will present the content in various ways to meet the needs of different learners (e.g., graphic organizers, visual media, anchor chart, hands-on manipulatives, technology). Section 2: Multiple Means of Engagement (guided practice): Explain how you will provide students with opportunities to explore, practice, and apply the content and academic language (e.g., collaborative group work, cooperative learning structures, hands-on activities, reading and writing activities, problem-solving).
