Competency Statement on Working with Families and Children
I strive hard to offer a healthy and safe environment for all children in my child care facility. I research and adhere to high state criteria for avoiding and minimizing injury and sickness, assisting children in feeling safe, adhering to solid dietary and health practices, and providing an enriching environment. My objective is to create and maintain a high standard that decreases the chance of child harm. Injury can often occur in a care home setting because toddlers lack the discernment to avoid risks. Kids learn by doing and connecting directly with people and their surroundings.
My professional activities meet this competency standard since I regard the children’s families as if they were my own. I always make an excellent first impression and welcome everyone with a grin. I am committed to providing exceptional care to each kid and parent by learning about and honoring their cultural origins. I protect confidentiality by solid recordkeeping, avoiding revealing sensitive material, and keeping intimate family conversations private. I urge my family to volunteer to become acquainted with the educational approaches that will be utilized to educate their children.
I keep families informed of what is going on in their toddler’s daily life by presenting to them regularly. The new routine gives them an overview of the activities in which their child is involved at all times of the day. A weekly newsletter is another tool I employ in my environment. Newsletters serve to maintain an open line of communication with busy parents by informing them of upcoming activities. I urge the parents to come in and participate in their child’s life. It is critical to collaborate with parents to improve positive behavior in children. Kids learn when there is constancy between home and school.
I inform parents that I am a required reporter and must record any molestation, neglect, or anything that poses a risk to the kid. I offer them information on groups that help our family.
