COMMENTS: Ivy’s problem in language development is partially caused by the fact that she is an introvert. Additionally, being bilingual can be confusing for a child, particularly if both languages are introduced at the same time. In the case of Ivy, it becomes hard to choose between Mandarin and English. For Ivy to improve in her communication skills, her parents need to let her spend more time interacting with children speaking Mandarin. Notably, it will be easy for the child to understand English if she first learns her mother tongue.
