Advantages and Disadvantages for Portfolios to Students and Teachers
Assessment portfolios are integrated with institutions as a way of enabling students to evaluate and reflect on themselves. Students can create assessment portfolios and document them so as to track their learning progress. It’s a way of engaging them to actively participate in their learning and development process. Students can also share and use portfolio assessments to communicate with their parents by demonstrating what they have learned. Portfolio assessment is also beneficial to teachers as they get to identify learning gaps and then address them accordingly (Wulandari et al., 2019). Portfolio assessments are created such that the curriculum has desired outcomes that teachers can use to identify the gaps.
