To what extent does a group shape people's knowledge?
Introduction
A human grouping plays a vital role in the level of individual knowledge. Coherently, the impact can be either positive or negative depending on the ideas and the cultures existing amidst that particular group. To begin with, a group is a collection of individuals who work to achieve a common goal, and share regular contacts, familiar feeling and experience mutual influence (Harding, 2016). Contextually, a group, therefore, represents a symbol of harmony among individuals who interact closely with each other regardless of the race, ethical lines, levels of knowledge and belonging. It is interesting to note scenarios where in a given group, some individuals will benefit from the objective of the group whereas others will not. What brings the disparity regarding intuition and proper reasoning, therefore, lies in the theory of knowledge one acquires during the group interactions (Young, 2003). The research question, which forms the basis of this thesis, therefore seeks to clarify the extent to which groups’ shapes people’s knowledge.
Second claim
History
Philosopher of history defies it as a fundamental concept that invokes notions of human agencies (Harding, 2016). History tries to relate the past events and the current events to give meaning to the historian. Most of the historians claim that history repeats itself. In so doing, they have in mind that a situation that happened in the past is most likely to happen in the future. In my younger ages of primary education, I at one point was suspended from school because of keeping bad company. When I appeared before the discipline committee hearing my case, it caught me with surprise that my family background could have motivated. The committee mentioned that my dad who happened to be alumni of the same school had the same records of indiscipline that affected me. Historically, I therefore suffered the mistakes of my dad. Most people believe in sharing a parental burden, by accepting to take consequence of the offense a family member did. This historical argument seems to be a strong intuition because there is no scientifically proven evidence to uphold the area of knowledge (AOK).
Counter claim three
Contrary to these claims, it is not automatic that history repeats itself in all scenarios. For instance, the incident of my dad’s indiscipline in school during his time logical could by no means put me at risk of repeating the same mistake as the discipline committee reasoned my case. The committee failed to argue from the substance point of view and bluntly pegged me into unnecessary consequences. The truth might have shown very different reasons such as inadequate exposure to good discipline and lack of knowledge about misconduct and bad company. It therefore becomes baseless to accept the argument that turn of events of my parents past can be as a denominator of my today’s misfortunes. This argument gained knowledge through written report of my dad’s past. However, it is true that through the oral submission of my case, it becomes a history when presented at other platforms (AOK). One only suffers the consequences of their own burden (Harding 2016).
Fourth claim
Art
Art is one of the fundamental ways through which humans assemble to either participate as an audience or directly involved in the core activities. Arguably, one forum that brings people of different talents and cultures together is the art community. However, the measure and magnitude of arts as a common denominator in knowledge is somewhat confusing. The claim in this context involves the impact of art in a community as a means of shaping peoples life. During my art class back in college, my lecture made sure that I got the full content of the course. I had to work extra hard to master the concept of the technical drawing since I felt the lecture was not up to task on his part. My expectations grew high since I had just sat the paper awaiting the final exams results. Deep in my mind, I knew I had some challenges with some section of the paper that would not give me full marks. When the results were released, unfortunately, I failed the paper. At first, my lecturer did not expect me to fail the paper after having taken me through the course adequately. All the blames rested my side basing on the argument of the lecturer. From a point of view, Art is integrated into the curricula to supposedly better the discipline of students and improve their academic p...
