In the article, (2016) argues that there ought to be a moral code that governs how people behave, as they respect the personal space and property of other people. Honesty and integrity are integral to behaving honorably, and when there is mistrust among college student people are cautious, the way they behave around their fellow students. The code of honor should go beyond obligations as is common in the academic standards, since the students should be honest at all times. Respect and support for the honor code show that people are not necessarily bad, as more people are responsive to academic integrity so can they consider the honor code to build mutual trust (Parsons, 2016).
Having a code that people follow does not necessarily compel people to act honestly, but rather creates an environment that fosters transparency and accountability.
