Do you believe social media is a good indicator of employment? Should we be using it in the hiring process?
Social media can be conceptualized as a communication platform where people connect with one another through internet websites to exchange ideas about a particular subject matter. Social media is a good indicator of employment because it is used by more than 2.8 billion people across the globe, and companies could leverage this opportunity for recruitment purposes. According to Mabić et al. (2020), over 75% of job-seekers aged eighteen to thirty-four years have discovered employment via social networks. Accordingly, most employers use social media prior to scheduling interviews to familiarize themselves with job seekers.
