Power and politicking come together since the former fuels the latter. Power is the capacity of an individual to influence other people to allow things to be of their control, making others follow the commands or ideologies of the one who holds power. As a result, the individual with power conjures organizational politics or politicking because that person utilizes power to control the resources (Janasz et al., 2019, pp. 370-371). The connection between these two concepts is evident in organizations. Thus, in this paper, we shall reflect on the real-life situations where power and politics were demonstrated.
Often, the organization’s leader contains the power to influence the members, making a positive or negative impact in the organizational culture, mission, and vision, and creating a set of principles and values followed by all the organization members.
