Albert Bandura formulated the social learning theory, which states that human knowledge is enhanced by curiosity and observation of the world. The individual learns by imitating what is discerned via reciprocal interactions, mainly when the subject is dependable based on one’s perception. From here, the person formulates ideologies through modeling. The behaviors are molded and nurtured. Consequently, these concepts influence the individual’s conduct (Huang, 2016). This theory is significant in the development of children, particularly during the age of inquisition. An example from which this theory applies is watching animated movies, which is typical in the current society. Many parents are dependent on gadgets and technology in teaching their children. Therefore, the influence of animated films on children’s behavior, intelligence, and emotional capacity and its adverse effects must be thoroughly elaborated. This will serve as a guide for parents and educators on properly communicating and handling the children’s actions.
Generally, it has a positive and negative impact on the child’s development. Positive effects include assisting the child in early learning, particularly when watching educational animated films, helping develop rationality, improving speech articulation, specifically when the animated film is in the native tongue, promotes creativity, relieves stress, and employs the essentiality of inquisitiveness. Conversely, its adverse effects include promoting aggressive behaviors and lack of empathy, antisocial behaviors, poor role modeling, and sedentary lifestyle (Nair, 2018).
Many studies supported these findings. Initially, Huang (2016) investigated the impact of the film “Finding Dory” on the socialization of Chinese children ages five to six years.
