Comparison Between the Two Releases of Avatar Trailers
Week 7 - Assignment 7
Since we are on an Avatar kick: For this week, do a short (1/2 page to a page) response to the trailer for the new Avatar: The Way of Water in comparison to the first Avatar (2009). Answer these two questions:
1) What do you think the key differences are between these trailers with regards to (promotional) messaging through their editing styles? Do you feel this creates a different "message"?
2) Do you feel that the new film's CGI graphics, especially with regards to how the creatures and the "landscape" of their world, is different or "better" (more advanced) than the older film? Is the rendering different to the point that they seem like two different movies entirely (like some of the old Star Wars films do)? Do you feel this may have been a "strategic" creative decision?
