Organisations need to recognise that information has a crucial role to play in making them efficient and in maintaining of competitive advantage, (Kirk, 1999). Effective communication and information sharing will lead to more innovative ideas and good decision making information. At AK Steel, information and ideas are gathered from various sources, both internal and external. This process is important as it is part of involving the team members in the decision making process. Employee involvement helps in creating good relationships with the employees. The information is analysed, and refined to ensure that it is appropriate and that it takes into consideration the different cultures at AK Steel. The sources of information are valued and as such are treated with confidence, respect and high integrity. Employees are required to give their feedback on this information.
