Corporate social responsibility is one the efforts that companies put into their community initiatives as a way of making sure that the members of a certain community are benefiting from their presence in that given community. As such, these are strategies that are directed at benefiting the community within which the company in question operates (Rajak, 2011). This can thus be considered to be giving back to the society. Given that, there are numerous ways that a company can initiate such interventions, there is a wide array of tactics to handle the approach. The company can give away a part of their proceeds or even start up efforts to develop sustainable business processes. Some of the most common approaches that a majority of the companies use include aspects such as environmental efforts, philanthropy, ethical labor practices and volunteering (Rajak, 2011).
Over the years, social responsibility has become quite popular, where most of the companies have adopted various strategies to try and incorporate the practices in their culture. Ideally, the main drive behind most of the companies adopting the corporate social responsibility strategies is so that they may establish shared value with the society. It is the community around that supports the business ventures and the operations.
