As a management consultant hired for the new mayor of Brady City, my main focus will be bringing the same spirit of reengineering to the city. Therefore, as a management consultant, I will assess the fundamental issues in productivity-improvement strategy and identify the unique challenges. Fundamental Issues in Productivity- Improvement Strategy The first issue is on process reengineering. As a management consultant, shifting the focus toward redesigning the existing process is mandatory. The change results in establishing streamlined and efficient processes for the city. Among the considerations in the redesigning process include identifying bottlenecks, looking for unnecessary steps in the reengineering process, and eliminating them to achieve efficiency. Consequently, where technology can be leveraged to promote productivity, available experts will tap into it. The second issue is matters of performance measurement and accountability. As a management consultant, I will ensure systems are implemented to help measure performance accurately. Performance management practices bring efficiency to organizations (Nudurupati et al., 2021). By effectively working with the project team members, clear metrics will be defined to be used in tracking performance, and responsible departments will be held accountable for their actions.
