The Nuances of Face-to-Face Interviews in Supply Chain Management Post-Pandemic

Essay Instructions:

Introduction to Professionalism and Communication in Business

Essay Assignment: 3-4 page essay (individually written and submitted) Individually, you will write a 3-4 page persuasive essay (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt font) in APA format on a topic from the list below.

• How do I best interview in person in my field? (Has the pandemic changed expectations?)

Your final, polished essay must cite at least three sources in APA style (the reference page does not count toward the page count). Three of these sources should be peer-reviewed. As JSOM students, you can and should find sources that show a depth of research and understanding of the issues. Use the library databases. Interview experts (people in the field or students in the major). Look at company websites and job ads and then do a comparative analysis. Look at reported salaries and salary research. Go beyond a Google search.

The essay should include the following information:

1. What is the issue you are covering? Briefly cite information about the issue, identifying problems and challenges clearly.

2. Focus on one specific problem/issue and offer a specific one-sentence thesis statement that addresses how you would solve the problem based on others’ experiences, advice and research.

3. Support this thesis with paragraphs that address one point per paragraph (so break down paragraphs when they get too long and use clear topic sentences). How have others (global, national, and/or local) tried to address issue? Explain at least three examples. Cite your sources.

4. Conclude in one to two paragraphs by pulling this data together and restating the thesis statement (different words).

Draft submission: Proofread your essay. Run it through Grammarly. Does it meet the formatting and source requirements? Does it prove the thesis with relevant, thoughtful research? If so, good job! Submit it to the eLearning dropbox for PeerMark peer review. TurnItIn will scan papers for plagiarism.
