Michael Dell was one of the earliest pioneers of the Dell Computer network. He discovered the significance of establishing a closer customer relation while he was still young. At merely 12 years, he created a catalogue of the company’s products, which he advertised on a local journal. The success of this endeavor was derived from the fact that he had connected directly with these customers by using the local business journal. After completing high school, Dell went on to establish one of the most successful computer firms in the world, that went on to be listed as a fortune 500 organization, accompany that was at one time near downfall due to increasing competition (Walton, 1992). All along, he attributes this success to the closer relationship with his customers. Some of the challenges, which this CEO and his company faced, were the recession that affected the global economy in 2000. However, the effective strategies cushioned it against the recession effects. Another resistance, which the firm encountered, was criticism from its competitors on its price cuts, which affected the general price of computers in the market. However, Dell supported his move on account of differentiating his company from the rest (Krames, 2003).
Andy Grove on the other hand, was a Jewish fugitive in America who nearly succumbed to the atrocities of the Nazi genocide. He pionnered the formation of the famous computer organization, Intel in 1997, his career at Intel particularly instigated the revolution of computer technology, which made him to be given recognition for the same by the Time magazine (Race, 2002). What made his company to succeed was his ability to confront challenges, and an effective leadership approach.
