Introduction
Disney is an entertainment company for young people especially children in lower grades or primary schools, although it is open to the adults. The company provides services all over the world; in other words we can say that it is a multinational organization. Organizational culture is the way a company addresses values and believes in its work place for a smooth running and manning of the organization. In the case of Disney the culture includes elements such as stories, rituals, organizational language and many more which I have discussed in the main body of this article.
Disney Cartoons have gained a lot of popularity. It has the best animations in the history of mankind which include tales of different kinds. The company is well known for its wonderful recreation place known as Disneyland where the children can go with their parents and enjoy themselves without limits. Most children and adults have a dream of visiting the park. Disneyland Park continues to be improved up to now with more interesting features being added regularly.
The history of Disney goes back to the 1920s when Walt Disney went to California with a cartoon program known as Alice’s Wonderland. He made partnerships there and he was able to sale a lot, hence the start of Disney company. Disney has maintained its fame for many years since its establishment by Walt Disney due to use of the appropriate elements of organizational culture.
The Artifacts Used at Disney
In this case, the company uses different approaches including stories, rituals, organizational language and physical structures.
Rituals
Most people have rituals that they abide to, especially when visiting the Disneyland. Some people prefer starting to visit some parts of the park in order to enjoy the whole adventure at the park. Others prefer entering the park at a particular angle, then proceed to other place of the park. Many people make a to do list when visiting the Disney for a good reason of not missing out any of the planned activities, they follow the list very closely because missing a part of it is just like failing to fulfill rituals at Disney, and they may return home unsatisfied. To most people it is always a must to follow a certain ritual when visiting the park for maximum satisfaction.
Stories
The organization has a lot of interesting stories which makes the listener follow the narration keenly. Some of the stories are based on true stories which have been passed from one generation to the next generation. Others are imaginary stories which are written by creative people. Some of the most famous stories in Disney are Sofia the first which is liked by the girls very much, Disney Princess, Frozen which is also interesting story for young girls and many others which are very interesting to listen to. As Disney continues to grow more, and lovelier stories are being discovered and being added to the list of already existing ones. The stories will be remembered in times to come since some have important lessons to the people both young and adults.
Organizational Language
Disney is a multinational organization and it is listened to by people who do not speak the same language. Disney English is widely used program which is the main mode of communication. The English program includes singing, role plays and interactive games. The English classes are taught by the native English speakers: people who are well equipped with English language and have no difficulty in pronouncing or spelling. I think it will be a good idea introducing another program with a different language for the people who do not grasp foreign language quickly.
Physical Structure
Disney is an innovative company which has digital expertise in the physical structures. It has most of the attractive structures when it comes to the world of parks. The physical domain of Disney is well organized, especially in Disneyland, where different structures are put up with unique shapes. Disney has various studios where most of its work is performed. It has several structures put up for training children on its programs. The structures are built in a way that is exceptional and attractive. For this reason, many children and even adults can be able to distinguish a Disney structure from any other structure they come around in different places.
Shared Values
Disney has shared values and cultures which are practiced by the employees of the company. Based on its mission, values and believes Disney has been successful in parks, resorts and other recreational facilities. The company has a strong reputation when it comes to services to guests and the commitments which it has to the employees, actions are what define the leadership at Disney Company. Excellence is highly encouraged by the company. Values are communicated to employees all over the world from the time they start through Disney institution of higher learning.
Conscious Beliefs
That thoughts precede action can be viewed as a one way of conscious belief. Conscious belief is one way used by the Disney Company to construct the movies sold to the people. Disney provides what I can term as hyper reality to the people, making the customers not to realize the blindness in them.
