In an age when social media has become one of the most fundamental platforms of sharing information across the globe, marketers have adapted their strategies to the trends. Social media marketing is now of the elements of marketing that marketing teams in any organization have to consider.
There are quite a number of marketing objectives that marketers may consider when using the social media platforms to advertise. One of the objectives relates to increasing the level of exposure that a certain product or service has in the market (Daoud, 2014). The social media websites are heavily visited and this also means that, a company may also want to increase traffic to their websites. people spend quite a large amount of time on social media sharing content, which means marketers will be looking to increase engagement with the market through elements such as shares, retweets, pins, favorites, comments and likes. Relative to the fact that social media is associated with fan bases, the marketers are also likely to have the objective of developing royal fans through followers and fans (Daoud, 2014). Using the metrics of the social media websites, marketers may have the objective of garnering the market insights. It is also possible for marketers to target improving sales through new customers and grow business partnerships (Kong, 2016).
There are quite a number social media websites all of which have varying features and limitations. Among the main social media websites that marketers can rely on include Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr and Pinterest (Ebizmba.com, 2016).
When considering the Pinterest posting relative to the display advertising, there is a close similarity. This is relative to the fact that, Pinterest posting are largely videos images and audio. These are also the elements that for the display adverts, where the potential clients or existing ones are exposed to content prepared in the form of images, audio or videos (Suttle, 2016).
