Executive Summary
This paper pursues to underline different theories used in Johnson & Johnson (J&J) company. The ideas include organizational change, management and leadership, corporate social responsibility, organizational culture, and associated strategies. There are particular distinctions between leadership and management, yet there are many similarities. Because culture must be linked with the vision, organizational culture is fundamental for J&J Company. Managers are responsible for furthering the culture's implementation and communication to personnel, encompassing personal, institutional, and corporate objectives. Corporate Social Responsibility, on the other hand, is now a requirement for the business. Most firms have CSR units that may also integrate morality with CSR. In addition, theorists consider a gradual change to occur through time in generally regular intervals. Needing to learn a different computer program, relocating to a new facility, or having a new supervisor are all examples. This paper outlines how the above theories can guarantee success and overall profitability within the organization.
Introduction
Success and progress are essential and crucial for J&J organization to flourish and appeal to stockholders and other stakeholders to excel and remain in the organization. Profitability is necessary for J&J’s success, but long-term feasibility needs development. J&J organization’s progress is primarily an extension, ensuing in the organization becoming bigger, increasing its market, and eventually being more prosperous. However, various theories can lead to profitability and high success scores when applied in an organization. The approaches include organizational change, management and leadership, corporate social responsibility, organizational culture, and associated strategies. This paper seeks to underscore the contributions of the various theories in the business.
Contribution of Theories
Management and Leadership
The words management and leadership are occasionally utilized conversely. It is serious about identifying that proper administration needs robust leadership (Kotter, 1990). As a significant element of managing J&J, Exceptional leadership behavior emphasizes making an atmosphere where every worker may develop and prosper. Leadership is termed stirring and encouraging individuals to attain a mutual objective (Watkins, 2012). This impact can originate from legal bases, including an elevation to an administration seat inside the business.
A manager should partake in the potential of a good leader. Leaders develop and execute acquisition and uphold a competitive edge (Watkins, 2012). For supreme managerial efficiency, J&J need resilient leaders and managers. Businesses that are over-managed and have poor leadership fall short of expectations. In coincidence with management, leadership creates novel progress and ensures operative utilization of resources (Kotter, 1990). Personal and organizational performance involves both management and leadership.
Leadership is viewed as a massive strategy to situations in which comprehensive ideological strokes are required to form the company. Management, on the other hand, demands a micro-approach (Kotter, 1990). Furthermore, both managers and leaders have power in J&J organization, but they may exercise it in various ways. Managers are typically described as using a rewards and penalties method, with benefits and acclaim for excellent work and modifications and punishments for subpar work (Watkins, 2012). Leaders, on the other hand, can use rewards and punishments to gain social clout inside the organization, albeit most leaders rely on a mix of skill and aesthetic qualities (Kotter, 1990).The management will engage enticements in various ways, while the leader will develop ideas for why the rewards and remedies are advantageous to success.
Organizational Culture and Associated Strategies
Various organizations have different perspectives on organizational culture. J&J organization recognize the value of healthy culture and invest appropriately to establish or sustain it, while others have completely neglected it (Schein, 1983). Although the impact of organizational culture is difficult to quantify, it is believed that individuals who work for J&J with a strong culture feel a sense of belonging, commitment, and commitment to the organization, all of which are necessary for success. The way employees interact with their workplace is influenced by their culture (Lee Yohn, 2021). Employees who work in a pleasant environment are more motivated and loyal to their bosses. Furthermore, the work atmosphere promotes people to form beneficial bonds. It also aids in the establishment of higher levels of worker engagement.
J&J business have clear instructions for workers to follow to work effectively. The company's culture consists of set regulations that serve as guidelines and provide them with a feeling of purpose at work (Schein, 2010). Every employee understands their job obligations and how to complete assignments ahead of schedule. Furthermore, such strategies aid in developing good behaviors in people, resulting in successful individuals (Lee Yohn, 2021). The organization's culture brings out the best in each team member.
By harmonizing goals, adaptable, resilient, and cohesive cultures will engage and favorably impact strategy execution. When the organizational culture strives to concentrate on performance and to accomplish the company's fundamental mission, objectives might align (Schein, 2010). It could involve:
* Delivering products promptly to consumers.
* Delivering more goods than the company's main competition.
* Other similar objectives.
It will have a ripple impact on the business, ensuring that all work done by each employee and work team is focused on results and the organization's current value.
