CannaBuy Co. (CBC) Business Operations SOP for Transporting Cannabis Product
After reading about transportation concerns and discussing some of the problems with your peer group, you decide to approach the board of directors about their procedures for preventing potential issues. One of the members asks you to review the company's current policies and create a Standard Operating Procedure for dealing with them.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are a comprehensive list of tasks, procedures, and policies that are written to guide cannabis employees in performing their assigned tasks. SOPs are the “how to” for everything in your cannabis business and having sound SOPs are essential to the success of your company. Moreover, a business applies for a cannabis business license, the application will likely ask you to detail your SOPs.
INSTRUCTIONS
The structure of the chain of possession laws in your state dictates who can transport product, what type of license is required, and the documentation needed for travel within the state. There are strict and specific public safety laws that govern the security of transport of cannabis.
Assume that currently CannaBuy Co. (CBC) does not have a license to transport cannabis products on their own and must contract transportation services through another company.
To begin your research, considering the following:
What license types are allowed to transport product in Louisiana?
What are the documents and paperwork required for transport?
How does this affect public safety and what are the risks of transportation?
How do transportation rules help to protect the public?
What other effects do they have on the supply-chain?
What are the risks of CannaBuy Co. (CBC) transporting their own product?
Does it make more sense to work with a third party transportation company?
What are the costs associated with hiring this function out
