Some people would rejoice at every mention of the lottery because it almost sound likes money. Little do they know that lottery could also mean, “Losing” for those who participate. In fact, most people who participate in a particular game of lottery tend to sacrifice their money to one person. Each of them participates in the lottery hoping that they would win (Kotler, 2006). A boycott was arranged to take place after claims that Illinois Lottery Commission were exploiting the poor people in Washington. This had resulted when the commission put a billboard that mobilized people to practice lottery, which is undoubtedly deceiving.
The lottery commission may argue that big jackpot games are equalizers, yet this does not make it better. In most cases, only one person hits the jackpot while numerous hopefuls remain regretful of their loss of the money that they had given out to lottery.
