During World War II to date the United States government has taken a vital role in leading nuclear technology advancement. The massive expenses and extensive technological hurdles, along with safety risks, barred private businesses from developing nuclear energy independently. The Atomic Energy Commission handled research activities alongside development work to protect both the safety and operational effectiveness of nuclear technology after World War II concluded (Hewlett & Hall, 2023). The initial development of nuclear energy received its core support from public agencies before private enterprises took part in its commercialization stage. The risks of innovation demand government leadership because private markets cannot support ventures in such situations.
