* Artisans of the 14h and 15th century made paints for their drawings. Traditionally most paints have two essential binding components the pigment, which is the solid material and the binding medium, which is the liquid. Depending on the paint's nature, pigments can vary from chalkboard and ground feathers, while the binding medium includes eggs, glue, and oil. Tempera paints comprised egg yolk, powdered pigment and distilled waterCITATION Mat \l 1033 (Milanote board, n.d.). In this composition, the binding medium is the egg yolk as it holds both all the ingredients together. While painting, Artisans added water to turn the thick mixture into a paste-pigment for easy usage
* Oilpaint was the most commonly used medium in the 17th century. Most painters used Linseed oil as the primary binding medium for drying oilpaints.
* Ultramarine is a blue substance made from natural lapis lazuli stones, a coarse mixture of limestone, silicate minerals, and pyrite. Also, this mixture has the mineral lazurite, which is a synthetic equivalent of ultramarine.
