Gucci is an infamous Italian fashion brand established by Guccio Gucci in 1921. The Gucci brand has evolved through history as it began its operations in manufacturing luggage products, assorted Italian travel goods for the wealthy class, and horse riding equipment. In its initial years, the brand was predominantly focused on producing leather products and high-end silk goods, shoes, bags, and knitwear (Jackson, 2004). Later during the second world war, Gucci shifted its focus from leather due to constraints in accessing raw materials and started using cotton to generate their products. Gucci introduced its unique Gucci stripe that had two green lines with one red bar during this period. This analysis reviews Gucci fashion brand through a review of current literature on Gucci brand history, Identity, products, and interactions with its customers.
Starting from 1950 to the present day, Gucci has seen unprecedented growth in its label as the priority choice among its customers consisting of actors majorly from Hollywood, affluent travelers, and other high profile customers due to its opulency extravagant designs. The death of Guccio Gucci in 1953, Gucci under the management of his three sons, namely Vasco, Rodolfo, and Aldo (Tokatli, 2013). The three introduced new assorted luxurious accessories comprised of googles, jewelry, and watches in their brand. These items have, since introduction, become the mainstay of the brand. At this period, Rodolfo Gucci was extensively involved in the management of the label.
In 1983, Rodolfo Gucci passed, and the management role was given to his son Maurizo who went through challenges to maintain the brand's success due to family conflicts that arose during this time.
