Filmed Concert: Contemporary Classical Music
Assignment Prompt
our homework is to watch a filmed concert on YouTube and write a minimum 400-word response-review of the performance.
The four concert videos to choose from are given on the next page. You must choose from these – you may not select a different concert of your own choice. Read through the instructions below in full before watching your chosen concert:
Select one of the concerts, and watch it in full. The four concerts present music from the baroque, classical, late-romantic and mid-20th century, so choose the option that appeals to you the most. Allow enough time to watch the full performance uninterrupted. Put the video on full screen and play the audio at the best quality available to you (headphones or external speakers are probably better). Try to pretend you are at the concert to get the full experience!
After you have watched the concert, write a minimum of 400 words in response to the performance you just watched. This should be partly a review of the performance, and partly your own response to the experience.
Make notes on the following questions as a basis for your writing (but don’t just answer them in order). Give at least EIGHT time frames over the course of answering the questions. You will lose five points if you do not have at least EIGHT:
Answer ALL the questions

Even though there are many filmed concerts, “George Crumb, Black Angels - Ensemble Intercontemporain” has been an outstanding one. The following film has two movements. The first movement is a Canon in D Major since violins are being played together. Furthermore, it has symphony no. 5, where most of the opening bars are quiet and somber but start to build intensity to reach a dramatic climax as the movement progresses. The Canon in D Major has a meter since the conductors apply recurrent accent patterns. Furthermore, it has mode since it has created a consistent harmony during this movement. On the other hand, it has since it has more than two lines that have relationships with one another. Nevertheless, s for symphony no. 5 since it has combined keyboard and violins to attain outstanding sound. Moreover, it has a mode with intervals that offer a theoretical framework for the melody. Besides, it has texture, where it has melodic, tempo, and harmonic materials for music composition.
The kind of music in this concert is contemporary classical music. The following music relates to the course we read since it is viewed as more radical and outmoded music having a vant-garde. Furthermore, this music was produced in the 20th century, which shows how previous music influences current music. Even though I viewed the whole music, I found some parts of the performance outstanding. The outstanding part was between 12:20 to 16:03.
