Opera music began in Europe as part of Western classical music as early as the 14th century, and there are various types of compositions such as aria, song, ballet and recitative and mostly relates to theatrical work whose text may be sang accompaniment of an orchestra. An opera has a libretto that serves as a script and may be based on a play or novel (Abbate & Parker, 2014). The genre is performed in duos, trios or groups and sometimes requires a choir (Sfetcu, 2014). Opera music first became popular among Italians in the Italian Renaissance period and spread to other parts of Europe. In opera, music and singing are represented in different scenes, while synthesizing action, music and text that are sometimes dramatic.
